Summary for Ghanaians: WasteGo Ghana Ltd does not sell your personal data. We only collect the necessary information needed to dispatch verified waste haulers to your GhanaPost GPS address and send your instant Mobile Money cashouts safely to your MTN, Telecel, or AT wallet.

1 Overview and Statutory Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to all digital services, web applications, mobile applications (iOS & Android), USSD gateways, and partner interfaces operated by WasteGo Ghana Ltd ("WasteGo", "we", "our", or "us"), incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Ghana.

WasteGo is registered with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) of Ghana under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). We adhere strictly to the eight principles of data protection recognized under Ghanaian law: Accountability, Lawfulness of Processing, Specification of Purpose, Compatibility of Further Processing, Quality of Information, Openness, Data Security Safeguards, and Data Subject Participation.

2 Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data required to facilitate seamless waste pickup and recycling payouts:

👤 Account Identification

Full name, phone number, optional email address, and Ghana Card verification for registered commercial haulers and hub managers.

📍 Location & Addresses

GhanaPost GPS digital addresses (e.g., GA-183-9023), physical landmarks, neighborhood details (e.g., Osu, East Legon, Bantama), and live GPS pickup coordinates.

📱 Mobile Money & Payouts

MoMo wallet phone number, registered network operator (MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AT Money), and transaction payout receipts.

♻️ Recyclables & Volume Data

Categories of materials (Plastics/PET, E-waste, Scrap metals, Paper), certified weight in kilograms, EcoPoints balance, and collection timestamps.

3 How We Use Your Information

Your data is processed strictly for legitimate operational purposes:

  • On-Demand Hauler Dispatch: Navigating certified tricycles (Aboboyaa) and waste compaction trucks to your exact location.
  • Automated MoMo Disbursement: Crediting your Mobile Money wallet instantly once your recyclables are weighed and verified.
  • EcoPoints Rewards Program: Calculating reward balances, supermarket discounts, and community leaderboards.
  • Operational Quality Assurance: Resolving missed pickups, dispute resolution on material grading, and customer support.
  • Environmental Impact Auditing: Compiling anonymized recycling metrics (e.g., metric tons of plastic diverted from the Korle Lagoon) for public sustainability reporting.

4 Mobile Money & Location Privacy Safeguards

Financial safety is fundamental to the WasteGo platform:

🔒 Zero PIN Storage Policy

WasteGo NEVER asks for, handles, or stores your Mobile Money PIN or OTP passwords. Payouts are executed via Bank of Ghana-licensed fintech partner gateways using standardized API protocols.

GhanaPost GPS & Coordinates: We only track pickup location during an active request or when you browse nearby Drop-Off Recovery Hubs. Background location tracking is never performed without explicit opt-in permissions.

5 Community Watch & Illegal Dumping Reports

When citizens use the Community Watch portal to report illegal dumping or choked gutters:

  • Uploaded photos and GPS coordinates are used exclusively to direct municipal clean-up crews and verify bounty eligibility.
  • Reporters may choose to submit reports completely anonymously.
  • Metadata from uploaded images (EXIF camera data) is stripped of non-essential device information before storage.

6 Information Sharing & Third-Party Disclosures

WasteGo does not sell, trade, or rent personal identifiable information to third parties. We share data only in the following regulated circumstances:

  • Assigned Hauler Partners: A dispatched driver receives only your first name, pickup location, and waste description necessary to complete collection.
  • Mobile Money Service Providers: Encrypted transaction instructions to MTN, Telecel, and AT Ghana to disburse funds.
  • Government & Environmental Agencies: Aggregated waste trends and verified dumping coordinates provided to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and local MMDAs (e.g., Accra Metropolitan Assembly - AMA) for municipal sanitation action.
  • Legal Obligations: Where mandated by a valid court order or statutory requirement under Ghanaian law.

7 Data Security and Retention

We implement enterprise-grade security standards including 256-bit TLS/SSL encryption for data in transit and AES encryption for stored data. Access to internal customer records is restricted by role-based authorization controls (RBAC).

Retention Period: Account data is retained for the active lifespan of your WasteGo profile. Transactional payout records are preserved for 5 years in compliance with the Payment Systems and Services Act, 2019 (Act 987) of Ghana.
